TXDTR #8 New Thread for February
Make sure you have an in-lb torque wrench and follow the FSM to a T. Torque everything just as they say and you should be fine. The instructions in the DDP write up don't do it correctly... Just FYI
True!
Especially if your sitting on top of a 300' windmill eating your lunch!
There is not a big enough saftey harness in the world to get me up there!
No breakin required for new injectors. Must have missed that post, what did you get?
Never knew, or saw, anyone use a Tq wrench on injectors... but could not hurt. Is that a 3rd Gen thing?
No experience installing 3rd Gen injectors so can only suggest this.....
Keep the hole on the side of the injectors pointed towards the fuel lines. They work ever so much better when installed that way.

If that was with CJ-4 oil, I'd stay at 5,000 max also?

Yes its a 3rd gen thing. I guess you could do it without the tq wrench but run the risk of a tube not sealing and causing all sorts of problems. They are a little more involved than older trucks but not too bad. You have to remove the exhaust rockers.

Looks like it is all going to happen Wed. 5 PM. I am excited to make my truck reliable again. I will try to post a video of my truck the way it currently idles, its a mess and all over the place.
RJ, all the budget would allow for is bone stock Bosch re manufactured injectors. When I get out of school and pay of my debt then I can get Don's fancy injectors..
Also, I do not know if Mike, RJ, Daniel remember way back in the day (May 08) I think it was when we were out at a race track East of Dallas and my injectors were acting up then. Well I was able to cover that up with two stroke oil. 40K miles since then I can't just fix them with oil, and after Robert's horror story I do not want to go through that so I am jumping all over this opportunity for stockers.

Anyone up for heading to Diamond W on Friday afternoon evening? Looks like they're going to have the bar at the arena open for a GTG and we should be able to camp out at the covered area like we have for past events.

I remember at Redline you telling me how much RJ's ex-favorite diesel shop wanted to fix them!
Torquing the CR injectors is just good SOP, but almost required for the solenoid nuts... 11 inch-pounds arrives a lot sooner than you'd think and it bites to snap a stud off.

Hope everyone has a great time in Alvarado - I'm not allowed to go anywhere until the shop is put in order!
