Very interesting insite into VP-44 and it's workings.
Thought I would share for those of us dealing with this 2nd Gen injection pump... and anyone interested!
Subject of the thread is "VP-44; Worse Pump Ever?"

So the best solution for you VP-44 guys is to cut your power down to 190 @ 4,000 rpm?

Leaving August 7th at 5pm after school and have to be in PA for class at 7 am on monday August 10th! Thats a long boring drive alon (2550 miles) but I have had enough of CALI!! I will still be coming back to OK in September on the 19th for the drag racing in Tulsa on the 19th so I will be racing there and then be heading to Durant

Here is what I have.

My neighbor (Cummins Technician at big dealership) has a used NV-4500 for sale for $100 I think I am going to purchase it since the synchros in my 4500 are trashed in 3rd. about a 3 second shift to keep it from grinding.

My thoughts, Buy this tranny for $100 take it to a GOOD shop and have them look it over, and make sure its still solid, fix the 5th gear nut, and then have a spare tranny so I can start REALLY abusing things like Matt does. HAHAHA

Just need to make sure it will stab with out any issues. It came out of a 98-99 CTD and mine is a 03 .

Sounds like a good idea Max. $100 sounds like a great deal.

If you get a spare tranny, then RJ can make fun of you for spare parts like he does me. But I must say, I don't have any spares like that.

Nothing wrong with spare parts!
I teased you for buying two NEW parts when you only needed one.... just so you'd have a spare!

It just means my spares are in NEW condition vs USED. If I were pulling a part that still worked, then I'd have a USED spare as well.

You can never have too many spares...especially if you never need them.

What you (and especially Matt) really need is a spare truck!
That's what I'm working on.

You guys have a great rest of the week and weekend and try to stay cool. We are headed to Arkansas (Ouachita Mts) for a few days...RVing, ATVing, Canoeing.

Life it to short to spend it melting in the Texas July heat!!!

Congratulations Matt!
Now that you know the plumbing works, you'll have to start paying the water bill...

Maybe you should get a job with a nationally-known, innovative company that designs, manufactures & installs diesel truck performance parts!

They would never hire Matt. They would loose too much $$$ in sales.
