why won't Wal-mart take tires off trailers?
why won't Wal-mart take tires off trailers?
i popped a nail last month,
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=231050
and got something today long & flat & wide.
it was a slow leaker, i just put 50psi in it every 50 miles to get home
pulled up to Wally World, and 3 of their star WrenchTurners were out there with their pants around their knees, and they said for "security reasons" they could not take the tires off my empty car trailer...

No walmart around my area will touch a trailer tire if you have to pull it off the rim. I was told this by a guy when I just wanted a valve stem replaced because I thought it was leaking from there. He told me he hoped so because he's not allowed to break the bead on the tire.
Ive seen those Wallyworld genius's work on tires before, I wouldnt trust them to work on my trailer tire anyway. Heck I wont even go back for car tires after the last wallyworld experience I had. Its pretty bad when you got to give the "tech" tips on how to balance a tire, and i havent done it since college. but that's just my .02
I had the same problem. They would not install tires on my car other than the size and rating which was printed on the label on the inside drivers door. Went down the street to Big-O they told me its my car they would put whatever I wanted on it.

That why I bought a tire machine and computer balancer good for up to 38". It was only a couple of grand. I even bought the jaw chucks that will do MC tire without damage. I love my home shop. I got them here http://www.gregsmithequipment.com and a lift. best money I ever spent. It is Chinese equip, but it would of been 10k for a coats setup
quality & pride of a "job well done" are gone
Brian, a few years ago, i was looking at lifts & heavy eqpt for a home shop.
then i got lazy...
the more tools you have, the more work you have to do, to justify owning them.
ding ding ding. Wally World must have a huge legal staff. They analyse every product & service. They will sell/install up to the point where the warranty (read liability) makes it a non profit condition.
The reputation of trailer tires to blow (mostly by poor user maintenance) and cause hundreds & thousands of dollars in secondary damage is most notable.
Read the paperwork from the shops that will do high liability jobs.

We came back from colorado to Iowa and blew a tire on the gooseneck, the cashier lady said they would take it off and fix it but we had to unload it. I borrowed their jack and pulled it off and then they fixed. We had the spare on there but didnt want to keep going another 700 miles home without a spare. Oh and it was 5:00 on a sunday.
