Whats the stock hitch rated at?

Whats the stock hitch rated at?

at least i think it's the stock one. just the reciever shows past the bumper, then it goes to a round tube up into the frame rails. there are no markings on it at all. looking for tongue and trailer capacity. thanks!

IIRC with weight distribution it goes to 12,000 lbs otherwise it is 10,000.

Hitch weight rating should be about 10% of the hitch weight, so 1,200 lbs with weight distribution and 1,000 without. Though some weight distribution systems will allow a bit more weight.

I found this while looking for a hitch for my truck. Dodge offered a cheap solution that bolted to the bumper that was good for about 5,000 lbs but that is also what the bumper alone will support so I went with an after market Putnam XDR, good for 17,000 with weight distribution and it uses the standard 2 inch ball mounts. Of course finding a ball mount that will support this is tougher.
