New Trailer......Am I alright for pulling it?

A question for the towing guru's out there. I am new to towing trailers so bare with me here.

The truck I have listed in my sig is what I will be using to tow the new trailer I might be buying. Below are the listed weights and specifications of the trailer.

2010
Wildwood 29QBBS
Length: 35' 3"
Hitch Weight: 826 lbs
Dry weight: 6600 lbs
GVWR: 10,986 lbs

Will I have any problems pulling this with my 2001 2500??
Am I still in the ball park as far as weights are concerned?
Am I over weight?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Rob

The only issue I see is that you don't have gauges.... Might get a little hot w/o you knowing.

Ya it is a tad long eh!!
It is 33 foot but if you include the hitch its 35. Its a bumper pull as well.
The truck is going in next week to get the Edge Juice/Attitude controller/chip installed so I'll have my gauges all packed in with a little more kick as well. I was planning on investing in a weight distribution hitch probably would help. I also have to take a look and see what class of reciever is installed on the truck. The truck does have the towing package included from factory so the reciever is factory installed. I am not home to check at the moment. Anyone know what dodge installed....Class III or IV? Thanks for the advice guys.

you should be fine as far as weight goes, withthe edge make sure that you dont turn off the defueler so if does start to slip it will depower itself and i wouldnt recommend using anything but the tow setting when towing. also may want to have the tranny serviced before too many trips

Factory hitch on the 2001 2500 is good for 10000lbs towing and 1000lbs tongue with a WD hitch but only 5000lbs towing and 500lbs tongue with a standard weight carrying hitch, so you'll need the WD hitch. Watch that tranny father in law melted his so bad they couldn't even reuse the case. He now has a standard like mine to guarantee he will NEVER have another automatic transmission problem again.

Brian
I asked the question earlier of what class hitch came equipped with the 2001 2500 trucks and Busboy had just stated it was a Class III. But I agree with you as well. I would like to get a Class IV at the least. I'll be pricing them out when I get off shift. Cheers

You will be able to pull that with no problem. You will not have to change you hitch for that trailer. With that long of a trailer I would want to use a WD hitch anyway to help control sway.

Well guys....Got the new chip installed today. All I can say is it is very nice to have a full set of gauges now and the add on power is quite impressive. But......what kind of temps should I avoid with regards to my stock tranny? I can set a high temp limit in the chip that would de-fuel the truck to protect and give me an alarm if I get close to it. Any suggestions? So far I have noticed on the way home the tranny temp was running around 150-160F. 160 was after a good pull.
