Valley hitch mounting location from axle?

I'm new to this whole 5'er thing but I'm installing a valley hitch mounting kit on my 97 2500 w/ the dana 80 rear, long bed. I've already drilled and mounted the rail in the only place feasable, about 1" behind the axle. I did a couple small test hole in the over the axle, and in the 2" forward posisitions, but each time I hit a cross member bed support thing. If I moved it any further forward I lost the 52-3" cab clearence.

Am I going to have any significant drivability issues w/ it just behind the axle center line? I also have a 500+lbs front buck stop bumper so I cant imagine it'll be lifting the front end up much.

Any thought's? Am I the only one w/ this problem?

BTW the 5th wheel is a 33ft forest river sierra toyhauler if that makes a difference. <8000lbs dry and empty

I have a valley on my 2500 and it seems to be about 1" or so back from center you will be fine. I have a 33" next level at 17,000 lbs and my 2500 pulls nice
