The V10 ate the 48re

It was a matter of time. Dads old 03 dually V10 ate the 48re with 73,000 on it. On his way to Louisville, KY with about 12,000 on the trailor the transmision croaked. Not to bad considering that all 73,000 miles were pulling loads in access of 20,000 plus GVW and some in the 30,000. Dealership is telling us that "Two gears have locked together" whatever that means. I tried to tell him to get the 6 speed with the Cummins but just said no. I wonder if he regrets it now? Did I mention its on its second engine...

V10 ate 48re

I think that the V10 had the 47re, if this truck has a build date of before 1 Jan of 03 it will not be a 48re but a 47re. My 03 with Cummins with auto(48re), ordered sept.02 did not arive at dealer untill mid Feb. of 03.

ouch that hurts

with those kinds of loads and a v10 he will se more bills like that

i sold my v10 when my trailer weight started hitting 12k

the lower rpms of the cummins would make his tranny live longer

will run my stock tranny till it dies then upgrade the tc and lock up computer for jake brake
