Update on availability of the Jordan Brake Controller

Several people had PM'ed me for information on getting a Jordan controller. Jordan has finally called it quits and is retiring and has not been shipping for several months. I spent some time with him today and he updated me with what is happening.

Jordan has sold his patents and all materials CAMCO. At present, they are still producing the cheaper controller called the "Actuator". It is a time based unit and somewhat cheaper in price than the Ultima 2020. The Ultima is presently out of production.

Jordan showed me his new Ultima he is working on right now for CAMCO. It should be ready for shipment sometime in the spring. It is really cool. It is much easier to install and is self adjusting on the control wire. The main console can now be placed anywhere you wish - - it no longer has the wire attached to it, rather it is electrically connected to a sensor mounted on the brake arm. It could be placed in the cubby in the dash if you wish. It further is operating at 318 cycles, so it will function beautifully in the hydraulic trailer brake setup. I should be testing a prototype in January or February and I will keep you posted on what I think of it. I sure like what I see so far. The new one should cost just a little more than the old Ultima - - final figures will be available once it is completed. Jordan was anticipating something like an additional $20 from the old Ultima.

Bob
ps: disclaimer. I have no affiliation with this company, am not paid by them for anything and own no stock in the company. I am only an acquaintance of Jordan and have tested some stuff for him.

Can't wait. I might just have a slightly used "old" style Jordan for sale come spring.

If thats the case maybe I should sell mine and get a prodigy, since it should be easy to sell if they quit makin em.

Not bashin at all but I just have never cared much for the 2020. I bought it cause it is highly praised on here but it just doesnt seem any better or worse than any controller I have ever used. I dont know maybe I just dont have it adjusted right but anything over about .8-.9 amps and it locks the brakes up. I guess you just gotta be smarter than what you are dealin with.

Jordan tried to help me but the problem was never resolved.

WAP - - you obviously do not have it adjusted right or the setting of the tension on the cable sheath is not right. You can play with the tension and get it to the point it feels just like the truck brakes - - no jerks, smooth. Much smoother than the Prodigy.

The new one will be cool, especially for the guys that want to put the console in some cubby in the dash.
