How well does it react in a bat turn?

Do you remember that day?

Yes I remember,,,,,,,, but I didn't have a 10,000 lb. 5er behind me following you through the Bat-Turn either!
That's no comparison to the time on a Georgia interstate when I had the 5er locked up and sliding and the anti-lock brakes on the Ram doing their thing,,,,,,,,, it was truly an "EYE-OPENING" experience!

Jack: My 5er nose was to high so I lowered the truck. I took out one of two steel spacers between axel & springs. Helped a lot. Thinking about removing the outher one. That should come close to level. My 5er is 31' 12K Alpinlite.

I may have the same problem with my new truck. This may be rank heresy, but if you have a 4x4 and never plan to do off-roading, is it possible/advisable to lower the truck a couple of inches?

I'm in the prosses of lowering my back end this weekend. I took the 4 5/8 bocks to a machine shop. Haveing them take 2" off pluse the overload bumpers. Now the truck sits level when empty, hook up my 5vr she squats a little & I bring her back up with my air bags. Cost under $100.00 The u-bolts were $36.00 from napa.

I took the axles off and welded a length of 2" by 6" steel tube right on the frame. Then I used 1" by 1" tubing for two sets of crossmembers between the frame rails in an 'X' near the front o the front axle and near the rear of the back axle. On my 01 that gave me 5.5" of space above the bed rail.

I am looking at lowering the rear 4" and the front 2" on the 04 but I will probably still have to do something to the trailer.

I like my trailers sitting level.

Question Dummy Question

OK, I am a dummy in this area. How about someone enlightening my ignorance.

Why would you want to lower the rear more than the front? Why not lower them both the same? It would seem that the pin weight in the bed would lower the rear below the front already.

Does your truck look okay with the spacer removed, or does it look a little bit out of whack? I ask because I still haven't found a solution to this problem, and camping season is fastly approaching.
