Well I'm back . During my weekend I thought of Hoss pulling his first TT as well and hoped he had as much fun as I did! The truck did fantastic, pulled the trailer without much effort at all. Sure loved to stomp on the go-pedal though, and hear the DPPI bellow out sweet diesel sounds

I must say - everyone who raved about the Jordan brake controller was so right. Basically my truck braking-wise felt like it was empty, I never noticed any push/pull etc once I got it dialed in.

Hoss how was your trip!?
Haven't made mine yet. It's this coming weekend. I'm going to pick up the trailer tomorrow night and we're leaving Thursday. I'll let you know.

Glad you had a good trip.

Good looking rig. Sure you don't wanna just BUY one??

I'll post pics of my setup once I get hooked up to it tomorrow night. It's not quite as pretty though. It's a 1984 30' TT that apparently weighs about 9,000 pounds (although I suspect it is closer to 7000). It's in great shape to be 20 years old though. I was actually surprised at its condition when I first saw it.

Did you have to use a WD hitch for that trailer? I hooked up to the one I'm towing and it didn't even make it squat down enough to get the truck and trailer level. They both could have gone down another couple inches. The owner (my buddy) said it's nearly puts his half ton bumper on the ground if he hooks up without the WD hitch. I was debating whether I should even put the leveling bars on it or not.

Use the best setup for safety porposes. I had to adjust the ball height on mine to get the trailer and truck level. Also, If you don't use the load-leveling hitch, you will get accessive front tire wear.

On the wind effects from the passing semis, I've noted two while towing my 22' travel trailer - from the semi's front, you get a "bow wave" that pushes your trailer away. From the rear, you get a "pull" which I assume is the low pressure area behind the semi-trailer box. Turbulence just aft of a big box can throw in some wiggles - and If you follow at just the wrong interval, you sometimes get a fair amount of turbulence behind a big box - enough to remind you why you like your anti-sway device, or to make you wish you had one. If you're otherwise well-behaved trailer is doing a small rumba while you're trailing a large semi, try backing off on your following distance to get out of the turbulence.

I had a regular ball hitch, and a reese sway bar attachment on one side. The trailer didn't sway or act funny up to the 75mph I drove with it. As you can tell from the pic, the trailer wasn't exactly level, could have used a bit of a drop hitch insert.... Guess it wasn't that big of a deal for just one weekend, I didn't even notice.
