Transferflow tank

I'm getting a 70 gal. in-bed Transferflow aux. tank installed while I'm on vacation during Thanksgiving week. I Called them today and made the appointment to have it installed at Transferflow in Chico, Ca.. Thw wife thinks she has a hard time getting me to make a potty stop now. Just wait til I get that new tank...104 gallons total. At 21 MPG, I hope her bladder can take the stress!!

Re:Transferflow tank

I've got the TransferFlow 74 gallon wedge tank in the bed, and I love it!!!! I can tow my 11k fiver from home (northern Michigan) to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and not stop for fuel. I don't have to worry about which tank the fuel is in, the computer transfers the fuel from the aux. to the main as needed, and the in-cab readout gives me a gallon amount for each tank, and a total. The computer even has a self diagnosis feature so it will tell you when it is malfunctioning.(that hasn't happened yet) Top drawer stuff.

Re:Transferflow tank

You're set-up sounds great! Mine is a non-computer type of deal. When my main tank gets to half, the aux. tank automatically fills it to full. So when the main tank drops below half I'll know it's time to get fuel.

Re:Transferflow tank

Buzz,

With my computer, if you fill both tanks, the computer keeps both tanks balanced as far as the fuel ratio goes. When the main is 3/4 full, the aux is 3/4 full. When there's 1/4 tank in the main, 1/4 tank in the aux. Etc.

If you need an great RV Park while the tank is being installed,
try the Almond Tree located on the north end of town on the Esplanade.

Re:Transferflow tank

If you want an aux tank but can't afford the hefty price, take a peak at the RDS. I have the 41 gallon with tool box, diamond plate, good quality, installed for under $600. Does not have fancy digital read outs, but it does carry 41 gallons of fuel and refills my main tank while I drive and leave me enough money in my wallet for a few fillups. 8) 8) Pics on page 10 of member photos.

FiverBob:

How much is that tank uninstaled? Do you think it would be a difficult install for a do-it-yourselfer? How does it hook up to the factory tank? Is it gravity feed/pump driven?

Thanks

Re:Transferflow tank

Around the country 6000 miles and I was VERY disappointed in the price of fuel...

I was paying as much as $1.60 for diesel...

And my CHEAPEST price ever seen was $1.33 - 5% in Wyoming... Next to that was in my home state at $1.39 - 5%...

Basically, I think I could save a lot of money and time with one of these tanks. I think that it would pay for itself in time.

It seems whenever I stop for fuel it turns into a 15 minute ordeal..... but if I stop just to go to the bathroom I can make it a short 3 minute excursion.... which is no big deal.

Re:Transferflow tank

Don't believe everything you read about trans-flow. I have the 98 gal. tank in mine. Oh it's great, I'm always on the road, and stoping for fuel is a pain. The tank lets you be more selective, especialy towing. The problem I have is that you can have 10 gal in the main tank and 10 gal in the aux. tank. Unless you like running your tank down to 1 gal. you will need to fill up at the 10 gal. mark. I wish they would program it to go ahead and send the rest of the fuel at that point. The other thing is that when they say it should read + or - 2 gal. thats wrong. At certain levels it will read up to 10gal. off. And you can't use fuel additives in the aux. tank, it will mess up the tank senser. Think about that before you buy. Don't get me wrong, they have the best tank design, I never felt the fuel moving, even at a half tank. It's the computer that they need to improve on.
