What about sitting in a storage lot for weeks or months at max PSI. I had bulges appear on an old tent trailer with cheap tires...none yet on my chinese Michileins but I'm watching them closely. I've always wondered if I should deflate them for storage. I doput some weight on the jacks when in the storage lot?

As far as running, I use max pressure and TST pressure moniters which climb up to 90-95 on hot summer days.

For the truck tires, I run 80 in the rear when towing since I'm near max load and cut down to 60 when empty. Front is always heavy with my diesel so I keep them at 70. That ratio is based on a CAT scale with the trailer.

An article in this months trailer life states that you should over inflate tires 25% when storing, but be sure to remove the excess pressure when you travel with the trailer again.

Your knowledge of adjusting the pressure to the load to maximize tire life is relevant to bias ply tires, but not for radials.

Second point is that most RV trailers have very little excess tire load capacity. A few are overloaded before any travel gear goes in them.

It's relavent to both. Fortunatly, the radial is a little less sensative than a bias ply is.

Other than for competition, I have not seen a bias ply tire for sale in a while; of course, I havn't been looking for them either. Are they still available for trailers? If so, why would you choose bias ply over radial.
