Towing a loaded 18 wheeler? Video!

Hey guys. I was on my way to ship off my 47RH to John Isaacs when traffic just stopped moving... The cause, a broken down 18 wheeler with 13,000 pounds on board in his box trailer.

I offered to help tow him out of traffic. Last think I asked was, "do you still have enough air for brakes?" I knew I could get him moving but 6 puny tires was not stopping that thing, especially with a strap inbetween us, LOL.

Here's the vid, enjoy.

Fast forward to 1:35 or so...

That's it, make him feel bad....

by blowing a little smoke in his face. Wonder what the guy in the black rig on the right was thinking when you went by.

Cool Vid!

FYI if he had no air the park brake would lock up. Its spring applied and air released.

Cool man! Back when I had my new 92 W250 CTD I pulled a tractor trailer out of a huge mud pit. You should have seen the looks on everyone's faces when my truck did it with ease..... It was priceless......

Good thing you had a good tow strap too. I've seen the results of folks hooking up with inferior stuff and trying to pull a fraction of what you did. Cool vid.
I bet the other drivers did a double take on you hauling through that intersection.

Yah. I could just wonder what was being said on the CB's LOL.

I wish the strap was not "lifting" the rear end, but I had no choice, so the harder I pulled, the less traction I had....

Can't wait to do it again...

The guys on TDR are telling my that's about 45,000Lbs.... (of course, plus my truck)

i would love to try that in my ole girl, on the tv show "trucks", Stacey David, latched onto a big rig with a giant excavator on back, towed it with a DMAX he just chipped up. he said the rig weighed 138k, i want to latch onto something like that.

might be 2wd but i think i can get it moving ...

I remember asking if he had enough air for brakes...

At the time it may not have been a dumb question, since, if he didn't have enough air, his parking brakes would have been applied, and I don't think I could have pulled that...
