towing & exhaust systems

Who out there has aftermarket exhaust system & mainly tows with there truck? What is your pros & cons with them. Is there any system that will give me better performance & not alot of droning? Thanks in advance for all your input.

Main thing that I've found is if you go with an aftermarket system, put all the hangers back in (if not more), especially if you go with straight pipe. I think one of the main causes of drone is a long run of unsupported pipe that starts to vibrate at speed.

I have been thru a few setups on my truck and finally got it to where I am happy empty and happy towing (the wife is happy too)..

I started by ditching the muffler and keeping the cat.. good empty, horrible drone and volume when towin.

I then ditched the Cat and put a 40" donaldson in its place. Good empty, Good towing, little volume, but the exhaust brake made a high pitch squeal that would make you deaf at 20'.

In went a megacab resonator, kept the 40".. and now its perfect. Good tone, good volume empty, never too loud towing and the EB is as quiet as stock, And I have a free flowing 4" exhaust that dropped my EGT's another 50*s or so.

I ended up with a few combos and have settled on a 5" turbo back with a 51" Donaldson. The note is low and deep and sounds very good while empty and no drone while towing and we can carry a conversation in the truck. You will get exhaust whistle though but it's low and not high pitched. Sounds like a big truck.

The ony problem I've found is the other day I tried to mount up my Hellwig sway bar and the exhaust is in the way.
