Towing with 4bt
Towing with 4bt
I am considering a new conversion. I want to put a 1948 F-3 onto a 1982 F350 frame that I have, and make it a 4wd daily driver. I am considering a 4bt, with about 3.55 gears. I have a 1994 F350 with the IDI engine, and want something fun with good mileage that can tow a little bit. Anything heavy, and I can use my truck, but it gets stuck all the time (2wd).
Anyone towed with the 4bt? I am considering a ZF5 or 6 trans, and the rest ford factory stuff with the 82.
I am concerned about the width of an international engine, being the v8, and the 6bt's length, leaving me with the 4bt or an equivelant engine.
Has anyone done this before? Am I wrong about the room in these trucks? Will the 4bt be able to pull it's own? I will probably not tow over about 8k lbs with it, and usually just have stuff loaded on the flatbed.
