I will get to try out the new 4.10's this weekend so i'll let you know what I think of them. Will see if it was money well spent

Mooseman,
If your pictures are any indication as to where you are having trouble. Looks like you go somewhere by Strawberry or Spanish Fork canyon. I too have troubles on dirt mountan roads. I tow about 12K, guessing, when I go. Since purchasing the 5er I no longer go up Mayfield canyon or up to Skyline drive anymore. The reason being how hot the tranny gets and how long it takes me due to I have to stop and cool the tranny down. This is because I can not run fast enough to get the tourqe converter locked. I am hoping to get a fully built tranny soon so I can lock up sooner and go camping there again.
On a side note, when I go to Fish lake with my fathers boat 6000 lbs if I stop due to traffic on the exit by the lodge. I have to put it in 4 low to get the boat moving again due to the steep incline.

My truck was born with 4.10's and I swapped out to the 3.55. Key factor for me is running the stock size tire and my trailer at it's heaviest is probably around 9k. I didn't like the cruising speed rpm with the 4.10's. At freeway speeds the rpms would be too high and the fuel economy suffered. With the 3.55 I can cruise 75 and keep it under 2k rpms and pull 18-19mpg. My truck wouldn't do that with the 4.10's thats for sure. I'm sure if I go to a heavier trailer someday I'll probably wish I had the 4.10's back, but for right now I've got the best of both worlds. Good towing power, good cruising economy.
Running 315's with the 410's @75 Im right at 2050 rpm. Im sure if I ever go back to stock tire size I will be going back to 355's but for the big rubbers the 410's are the perfect combo for me.

You will be very happy. I only wished I would have gotten an underdrive auxillery trans. Now cruising down the highway empty i run 2100 at 70. I miss the 2k running at 80. But I regeared for towing. Definately better.
