Tow question

This site is GREAT! Everytime I have a question, you guy's have the answer. My question is...... I have a 7'X14' PJ Dump Trailer, the weight is 4460#. The G.V.W. R. is 14,000#. I have a factory reciever that is rated 10,000#. Is there a bigger reciever that I can put on? The owner's manual say's anything over 10,000# a gooseneck or fifth wheel hitch should be used. What do I need to do in order to haul my trailer and machine that weighs 8250#.That's a combined trailer weight of 12,710# and a combined vehicle weight of 21,500#. Can I carry this much legal?

In many states, you need a class A CDL if your trailer weighs over 9999 lbs.

TorkLift and Reese Titan V both make replacement hitches that are more than 10K.

To be LEGAL, you have to be under your truck's GVWR on the door post, AND under the trailer's GVWR on the tongue tag.

The combined weight GCWR is just what DC says your drive train can handle.
