Tow mirrors on the way!
Tow mirrors on the way!
I'm excited. My giant toybox from Geno's is about to arrive, with big ol tow mirrors, new shocks, a cup smoothie, and some other stuff in it. I've been sitting on the front steps waiting for the UPS man like a little kid.
How tough is it to remove the factory heated/power mirrors and hook up the new ones? It's getting dark, but I've got some lights I can rig up out there. Don't know if the kit comes with directions, can someone kinda walk me through it, or give a synopsis? I'd like to be towing in style tomorrow.

if i remember right the mirrors are only 3 bolts and a plug.be careful not to break the plug when you remove it.i think you have to remove the door panel to get to two of the bolts.should only take a 1/2 hour to 45 mins to do both sides.very easy.
It must be pretty common 'cause on most sites I have to change it, Wingnut's already taken

If you are careful taking it off, it will be easy to get back on. Like anything else, little finesse goes a long way. You can get replacement (white christmas tree) fasteners if you smash or snap some. One you get the perimeter of the door loose the whole panel lifts UP and of the way (careful of the harness).
Wait until daylight!
Alright, well the directions come with the package...at least mine did. So of course I could be a little off.
1. Roll Driver side and pass side windows down!
2.Remove tabs and screw connecting door pannel. I believe they only say to remove 3 of 4.
3. Unclip conncetion wire to power mirrors.
4. Un-bolt bolts holding factory mirror. I believe there are 3.
5. Remove factory mirror.
6. Install plate for new mirror and new tow mirror.
7. Torque bolts to rec. specs.
8. Replace pannel and screw holders.
9.Sit back and grab a beer. You're done. Just clean them and adjust them (may need to do tomorrow morning while the truck warms up)
10.ENJOY THEM!!!!
I could be wrong about any and/or all of this. Good luck!

Although I am a believer in using the right tool for the right job. However, I also like to save some money too.
You can get the pannel off correctly without the tool. Use a flat blade screw driver and a lot of faness....Not a good idea if you haven't done this before, but it is possible!
All this said, if you're gonna add speakers later or some other mod, buy the tool for the whole 7.

Well I ended up going with the framing hammer. Worked fine. Got the mirrors hooked up and installed....
What a difference! Those suckers are bad. I was really impressed with them, then I realized that they extended out another 4 or 5 inches, which was a nice trick. It feels like my eyes got about 5 times bigger. You can see sooooo much better than the factory mirrors, the heads on these new ones seem twice as big. They're 10 x 10". All the better to see you with....
Thanks for the tips yall.
