Tow Hooks - Correct Part # ??
Tow Hooks - Correct Part # ??
I picked up my new towhooks at the Chrysler dealer the other day, after taking the advice here on the forum. Now I have more questions...... The instructions diagrams don't match my truck, and these hooks are (apparently) designed to bolt on the end of a rectangular tube frame. That's fine, except that the front end of the frame where the bumper mounts are is a C section, not a box. The inside of the frame is open, I guess for access to the bumper bolts. Also, these hooks and attachment plates are huge. It looks like I'd have to remove my bumper lights. Any ideas or experiences with these ?? The part number of the hooks they got for me is: 82207917. I want to be real sure these will work before I start cutting that front end of my truck. Thanks all

I don't recall the part number, but I know for a fact there is no cutting or drilling involved in installing these things. They also have no effect on your bumper lights. The only thing you do have to cut is the holes in the air dam, if you have one. If it helps, I'll try to find some pics of my install.

The mounting brackets bolt to the frame where the bumper bolts up and also to the cross member between frame rails.
Disregard the bottom bracket, that's for mounting the grille guard.
The kit I got is part number 82204881.

Interesting. I called the dealer, and the parts guy ran Jim's number and said it's only for '99-'01 trucks. Says it won't work with my '02. ????? He's going to call the factory tomorrow and let me know what he finds out. All his books jump from '01 to '03. Guess mine is an orphan.

He must be looking up numbers for a 1500. They switched to the 3G body style in 02 but the 2500 and 3500 switched in 03. The part number is right and it's definitely the right parts for my '02 2500 4x4. I had a similar problem with the rear wheel well liners. Parts guys don't always know everything.
