Tow/Haul on or off

I have a 24' TT that is 5500 lbs and am wondering if I can tow it without the tow/haul on. Will it give me better mileage with it off or on? I'm thinking it's going to be ok to not use tow/haul unless it seems like the engine is working hard or the tranny starts shifting in and out alot. It's not alot of weight for this truck but what weights does everyone start using tow/haul? Thanks.

I use mine whenever I tow. From what I've read It basically changes the shift points allowing more torque when needed. Some say they use it for everyday driving (stop and go) and get better mpg's. I tow a 5800# (loaded) TT and on my last trip from Denver to Glenwood Springs I averaged 13.75 MPG. for the trip. I feel this was pretty good considering the grades.
I also read somewhere that someone was denied warranty work because they towed without using tow/haul.

Haven't towed with ours yet, but I like the way it shifts in tow/haul mode. Locks the converter earlier, holds 3rd a little longer before shifting into OD which it keeps the converter locked (might unlock for the shift, but I couldn't feel it).

First of all, WELCOME to DTR! When you get a chance go to the "user CP" in the upper left of any page and click it and fill out your "signature". It will help us help you with info on your truck......year, mods etc. That will come up each time you post.

My suggestion is to start off in T/H mode....then once you are up to highway speed go ahead and take it out....to let it shift into o/d.
