On the new units I think legally it's too much at max GVWR. The most i've ever grossed is 23836. No problem for the truck though.

Yeah, 8500K pounds may be stretching the limits of a Ram 2500; but we all know the Cummins can pull it!

There's about a zillion threads on your question; but the bottom line is that you will easily exceed the vehicle GVWR before you come close to approaching any of the other weight limits.

If you want to pull anything of substantial weight (that trailer your looking at falls into that type of category), you shoulda bought yourself a 3500 dooley.

Some Math for you: Not sure if your truck is a 4x4 or not; but my truck weighs in at 7560 sitting in the drive way without me in it. That only leaves a 1500 lb margin until the 9000 GVWR is exceeded - almost 1250 after I get in.

buddy of mine has a 40ft GN 4 or 5 horse with 10ft livin quarter we rolled the scales and the trailer weighed in at 14K w/o horses do you think after 4 horses and full tack and etc will be too much for an 05 35004wd?

but you forget that GVWR does not count on a fifth wheel setup only GVCWR and most of you are running over that.

What it all boils down to is that if DC finds out you are carrying that kind of weight they will VOID your warranty. Also if you get into an accident you WILL pay for exceeding manufactures GVCWR that is not to say the truck won't carry it but will it do it safely

I pull a 30ft gn and weighed in at 23000# across cat scales the truck pulls it at no problem. Takes it awhile to get to speed but when I get there no problem on out. To answer your question, Yes the truck will pull but you'll never be able to gross out the trailer. If your going to buy it get ride of those 315's and get your torque back, you'll need it

I DOUBT I WOULD EVER MAX OUT THE TRAILER. I WOULD GUESS AT THE MAX I WOULD ADD 3000LBS INCLUDING PASSENGERS. SO TOTAL WIEGHT WOULD BE AROUND 11500. I DONT DOUBT THE PULLING POWER BUT THE LOAD BEING NOT SAFE TO HAUL AROUND. I.E. IS MY TRUCK GONNA SQUAT TOO MUCH OR IS THE WEIGHT GONNA BLOW OUT MY BFG 315'S

Previously there are a few threads that this has been debated in, far fetched court cases for extreme circumstances have been cited but also the language of transportation laws has been posted and broken apart to clarify that You will not and cannot be held accountable for exceeding the manufacturers suggested GCVWR as it is NOT a Legal guideline (common internet myth) and Does not hold up in court, licensed GVW and DOT guidelines do. You will and can be held accountable for exceeding a Tire weight rating or the licensed GVW for your vehicle and trailer as those are reckless endangerment cases.

You can probably count on 20% of the trailer GVWR or clost to 3,000 pounds.
