Finally got around to repairing the belly board today. Trimmed up the hair, washed, dried, and cleaned the area with 91% isopropyl alcohol, and taped it up with 4" flex mend. It was a bit of a trick to work over the slide mechanism.

Looks OK. We'll see how it lasts.

Cool. I'd keep an eye on it, to make sure if water got in there it got caught and corrected before causing damage.

60 mph head winds in Wyoming peeled the 100 mph tape off at 115 mph air speed. Re-taped at a rest stop in Montanna, put tin over it in Kalispell.

1st gen dually pulled it through that wind tunnel without a complaint, and mildly busy steering.

In the years we have had our 12,000 GVW fifth wheel we have had two tread separations and one blowout, which caused extensive damage. Since we went with Michelin XPS Rib tires, we're on a second set, there have been no problems. Are they very extensive? Yes, but well worth the cost compared to repairing the body of the trailer. I called the Michelin headquarters and they indicated these tires can be run for seven years on a trailer.[/LIST]Just my two cents-John

If you start researching, you will discover that there is no such thing as a good quality HD 15" tire.

So the best solution is to upgrade to 16" wheels for which numerous 16" LT load range E truck tires are available.
