TC lock up question

I have an 07 auto that I purchased new and I used to tow a 5k TT but now I am towing a 10k fver. I am getting ready to do some trans upgrades but I have a question about TC lock up before I make any changes. When I am in tow haul mode and the converter is locked up in 3rd gear while slowing down I need to slow down to 20 mph before it will unlock. If I let off and slow down to 25-30mph and then start to accelerate it will not unlock and it lugs the truck at about 1100 to 1200 rpm. This was not much of an issue while towing 5k but now that I am towing 10k+ it is kind of uncomfortable when slowing on a ramp and then trying to accelerate into traffic with the truck lugging especially while climing a hill. Is this normal for others while using the tow haul or is there something wrong in my trans that is not letting the converter unlock while accelerating at such a slow speed.

Thanks for any input, Jeff

Mine opperates the same way while towing.

It will not lug as padly while towing the heavier weight though, it will unlock quicker.

Thanks for the response. It sounds like yours works similar to mine, I guess there is nothing wrong with mine. Do you find this to be a little annoying or does it not bother you. How much throttle do you have to give it to make it unlock? Can you just roll into it or do you have to give it alot of fuel to make it unlock in the 25-30 mph range? I see you are from PA, what area? I am in the Allentown area. Thanks, Jeff

I generally press the tow haul button in and out again and that forces it to shift.

I noticed when pulling the rig and, I'm in Tow Haul mode, I just tap the throttle to shift into a
lower gear.
