Yeah....maybe we should bust out in the Aggie War Hymn....maybe even have a quick Yell Practice over in the Other forum.

Re:Take the CDL test.
I have a California class B commercial license for my job -- garbageman. In California if you get a ticket while driving a commercial vehicle it is one and a half times the point(s) of the same ticket given to a regular vehicle. However, if you receive a DUI while driving ANY vehicle at any time you lose your commercial license for a year. Right now the Teamsters are trying to fight federal legislation but nothing has been changed yet.

HOSS are you getting greif from someone? I didn't know picking on a AGGIE was anything other than fair play. [/quote]
Yeah, but don't worry....it's not from you. You're more like that annoying little gnat that won't quit flying around your ear on a hot summer day while you're trying to catch fish.

Re:Take the CDL test.
I did some research on the regulations on the motor vehicle operator site, DMV and even searched Texas CDL. I even downloaded the PDF files for the Class handbook. Shouldn't be to hard for anyone to find that info out but if you need I can post an address later on. I am at work and would need to be at home for the link. HOSS, you don't write, you don't call me anymore. Have we had a falling out or something. I understand I am of no match for your intellect but hope I never offended. PM if I have so I can clear it all up. God bless and good day to everyone. It is quitting time and I have some chores around the house. ;D

I've still got my Class B CDL with the passenger endorsement from my days of driving bus while I was in college. Figured I'd keep in just in case I ever needed it (I still drive on occasion for a school around home).
But a question for all you Texas CDL holders. Did they pass a new law regarding the penalties for getting a moving violation if you have a CDL? I knew that the penalties were stronger if you got busted while driving a commercial vehicle, but I thought I read something were they upped the penalties even if you got caught in your personal vehicle and had a CDL. Anyone got details on this?

Quick search on google-- http://klst-tv.wcc.net/cgi-bin/News/...es&ID=1057
So I guess it is true
Are we on our way to something like "Was DTR vs Other..now..Bellybuttons"?

Re:Take the CDL test.
Haulinindixie, are you talking about on Hwy 78. I don't like going thru summiton and jasper, the police are too ticket happy, speed limit drops from 65 to 55 to 45 in about 100 yards. When we go that way, momma rides "look out". Anything past the bridge at the river, gives me the "pucker factor", and it gets worse the farther up 78 that you go. Maybe corridor X will help. For those that don't know what corridor X is, it's a REAL 4 lane hiway from B'ham to Memphis, no more back roads and Podunk backwoods redneck speed traps. We must be the only state that still has lights that ONLY have red and green bulbs, no yellow.
This ain't a joke, some cities still have them, and a GOOD way to get a ticket.

Re:Take the CDL test.
Highway 78 to Jasper is the hot shot brake test area ;D If they aren't good you don't make all the lights. I go regularly to Carbon Hill. The reason for all the speed limit changes is because that is the CDL test run. DMV is right at the college.
State troopers give you 5 mph reliably, county does not write tickets (the can but don't), municipal you never know. Generally you can run 5 over.

I drove for BusOps too. Exciting years...but the experiences have actually paid off too.

I knew it...those years of sucking Cummins exhaust walking across the lot in the morning did help create more diesel-heads. After I left there I had to buy my truck just to get my fix. ;D

Re:Take the CDL test.
I have been reading this post with interest....there and many pro and con to gettin a CDL
I was involved with many pro truck drivers with my last job....and I was also a trainer that taught defensive driving to the experienced driver....I found many pro drivers with years of over the road driving to be some of the worst defensive drivers....I personally have had a CDL for 30 plus years and know that when I drive a big rig I feel shielded by its size as compared to driving my dodge with a 44 ft trailer I am much more aware of braking and following too close and turns using the smaller dodge mirrors
Many DOT officers and law officers know most RV drivers are pushing the limits of their rigs but because RV's are not commercial they turn a blind eye about RV drivers....many states are starting to look at some form of endorsement to a drivers license if you pull a RV
I feel and CDL may not be needed in every case but would like to suggest a defensive driving course would be a better option for people that pull with their dodge

Re:Take the CDL test.
If you ain't looking atleast 100-200 yards in front and 50-100 behind you, you ain't paying attention. Had an IDIOT pull out in front of me this morning, locked all 6 wheels down, horn blowing, and I GOT THE BIRD, BUT he GOT THE SMOKE AT THE LIGHT
, IDIOT should have had his window up. He started riding my butt, but I realized it was time for a BRAKE CHECK, I'm so sorry he bumped the curb and busted a tire. and NO, it wasn't road rage, but when ALL I can see of you in my rear view mirror is the back half of your roof (Rice Grinder), YOUR'E TOO CLOSE, I did bump the brake lights 2 times as a warning, 3rd strike, YOUR'E OUT.
And haulinindixie, I guess it must have always been my pony tail blowing in the breeze that they liked. I try now to run up 269 make few turns and come out at Jack's, the school is just on the right. I've seen some of the "trainees" driving, all I can say is "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE"

and if anyone is wondering if I was paying attention, YES I was, 4 lane road, I was in the right lane, saw the idiot, and figured he may pull out, I moved to the left lane so he could, how did I know he'd pull out ALL the way to the left lane.
