Something new to tow

Picked this up last Friday, had it home about an hour, put new tires on it and off it went on a 2500 mile journey.

It's a new to me 2001 Kiefer Built 6 Horse slant load. The living quarters area is unfinished but that will change real soon, I was looking for a winter project anyways.

Tows like a dream, other than the little weight it is, you don't even know it's there.

All we are doing to it right now is giving it a real good top to bottom cleaning, making a parts list for a few missing nuts and bolts and she gets put away for the winter.

Hope you like it.

Jeff

Is that what that white stuff is? How does it get there? How do you get it off? Does it hurt anything?

Gotta go get in the pool - - see ya.

What do you mean. On our elk hunt we had anywhere from 8 to 16 inches of snow on the ground. The next day it all melted at lower elevations - what a mess that made!

The trailer looks great! Is it supposed to ride at an angle like that or can the gooseneck be adjusted to lower the front?

that's why i love my 2 wheel drive, i bought it as a pulling truck. Yeah it kind of stinks when you get there and it's muddy or when it snows 3+ ft, but it pulls my trailers so straight and level that i can't complain during the non winter months. Buddy of mine got a 2002 24V 4x4 and he puts his gooseneck stock trailer on the back and it clears the bed by about 6 inches and the trailer suspension is about maxed out on the rear axle and the front axle is bairly touching the ground because the nose sits so much higher than the tail. He can't adjust the coupler upwards to level it out a bit though becuase then the trailer would be hitting on the bed. I laugh at him when i pull up with my 20' trailer and it's sitting almost perfectly level or within 1 degree of being level when loaded and just on the verge of touching first set of overloads and about 2-3 degrees unloaded and I just say, gotta love a 2 wheel drive for towing trailers. He's like yeah i know, didn't think about about the height trying to tow my trailer when i bought the truck, oh well. lol.

Unfortunately, I knew when we bought the trailer, it would sit nose high. The gooseneck is adjusted as low as it goes.

The good thing is the trailer will never, at least as far as I own it, see actual horses. My wife raises miniature donkeys and the trailer will be used for delivery and pick up of them. Because of this and the fact the trailer is equipped with a rear ramp for loading, we are going to drop the axles down and rebuild the ramp to be a couple of feet longer. It's been abused anyways over the years loading horses so it needs a little TLC anyways. We figure a 2 1/2 inch block will pretty much level it out.
