Yes, but you get what you pay for.

The problem with the cheaper sliding hitches is that they can be incredibly time consuming and cumbersome to use. According to Reese's own operating instructions, to use their slider you have to stop the truck, get out, chock the trailer tires, lower the landing gear on the trailer to take the pin weight off of the slide mechanism so it can slide, release the slide lock, get back in the truck, pull the truck forward while holding the trailer brakes to move the slider back, get back out of the truck, raise the landing gear, remove the wheel chocks, and then get back in the truck. Now you are ready to turn sharp or back up. Skipping an steps in this procedure can be unsafe or can damage the hitch.

I have a Reese 15k slider hitch & a 30' HR Alumalite 5vr. I just spray the rails with "Dry Lube" once a month. I can slide mine without lowering the landing gear & chocking the wheels. You don't need to "over power" it or anything! Takes maybe 30 seconds to do it. For someone who weekend camps "cheaper sliding hitches" are the way to go.

And besides I can get in & out, and buy a LOT of cans of Dry Lube spray for the $1500 difference,!

OK, I have nothing to prove here about getting a really good deal on my unit. 1st, I have the REAL invoice from the factory not the dealer fabricated one. And as I said, it was a 05 unit that had been discountinued and needed to moved off the lot. I have no reason to lie, nor do I need my integrity questions over such a silly issue. If you believe me or not is your choice. Tomorrow is a new day and I will continue to live my life just as I have for the past 37 years. And one disbeliever to the truth is not going to stop the hands of time.

Talking Dope on slider hitches

Here we go dudes!
This photo is sitting normal with 5er straight behind the truck bed.
Each photo below shows what pin does as I slightly twist the yellow handle to the side. As the hitch senses the pinbox twisting the hitch internals automatically shift the hitch rearward. At full 90 degree turn the hitch has slid back 13 inches. This thing is so slick you feel absolutely nothing. No binding, sliding, grabbing... Nothing.
