Unhappy sleeping on a slab. Help!!!

Just got back from 2 days camping in the 5ver. and can barely walk upright. That factory Mattress has to be about the most uncomfortable bed i have ever expierianced. Thinking about just removing the whole frame and all and put an old fashioned mattress and springs there. has anybody else here tossed that mattress on the side of the road yet?

We put that egg crate foam on ours. It made a world of difference. It's still an RV mattress but it is 150% better...

I am with you isidious, I have had to toss all the ones I have had over the years, and some of the smaller trailers I have had it is quite the chore to get a good one back in as the good ones tend not to bend like the factory cheap ones. Goodluck,,,Rick

Do you use a box spring with the mattress pappyman?? I was kinda wondering if i would get satisfactory results from just a mattress without going to the expense of boxsprings too.

Camping World has new 8" thick mattresses tht are designed for TT & 5VR's. They come rolled up in a box just so you can get them into the 5VR then open the box and Watch Out

I don't use a box spring thats only needed with a bed frame....I gutted my old bed and built a box with a hinged top so I would have storage under it then I just put a mattress on top of the plywood hinged top.....I found a quality mattress at a Rail Road salvage sales company with a thick pillow top very cheap

We just installed 3" of visco foam on top of ours. Wow, what a difference. It is on sale right now at Penneys. Bought two 1-1/2" pieces for less than $100. A pillow top mattress will do the same - - don't need the box springs. Just be carefull if your bed is in a slide that it will clear when you bring the slide in - - ours had 1/2" before hitting the vanity top.

We have no complaints with the mattress that came in our Wilderness, nice and firm. I believe it's even better than the expensive one at home. To each his own, I suppose.

Yep, tossed ours last year. Bought it in 1996, 6 months old. They put S matresses in there by design ... save $.

Easy nuff to take the measurements & go down to a matress house & have one made. That's what we did ... end of problem. You can select your own level of quality that way.
