Should I replace?

Headed to Yellowstone from St. Louis, MO labor day weekend. 3000 mile round trip i think. My hankook G rated 14 ply are almost 4 years old. Probably have 5000-7000 miles on them if that. They are starting to get hair line cracks on the out side only, near the rims. They never lose air and run them at 100 lbs when towning. I am about 400 lbs under per tire from being at max. Usually run 70-75 mph. Have had zero issues with them. Should those cracks bother me before a trip that long? None are deep. The deepest is about a 32nd. I haven't heard of these blowing out yet but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. I have looked around RV.Net and don't see where they are talked negativly about. Just wanted your all's opinon. Last trip out there on factory cheapo and leaking steel rims, it blew out the side of the camper. Luckly trip wasn't lost.

I installed a set of Michelins XPRIBS this year on my 5er. Per the Michelins guaranty they need to be inspected by the dealer every year after 5 years of operation, to determine if they need to be replaced. So I would suggest that you have the dealer inspect them if you have any doubts on the ability to performer as required.

This is a tough call. Most likely if you have a tire shop inspect them, they're going to tell you they need replacing so you buy from them. Unless.....you go back to the place you purchased them from because then they'll probably tell you not to worry about it.....since they're the ones who will have to replace them and deal with the warranty.

Personally I dont worry about small weather cracks/checking and only pay attention to any cracks up around the casing and tread giving any indication of separation. But hey, this is your trailer and having a tire come apart is not only no fun but can also be damaging.

On my brotherinlaws michelins they did that after one year, he had them checked and the tire shop said no problem, so get them to your local tire shop and see what they say.

Thanks for the feedback. The shop that put them on is 3 hours away and not sure I trust tire dealers around this area. They are all money hungry or worried about liablity so they won't even talk to you unless you buying. Heck some won't even patch one if you get a nail or something in it, even with road hazard. The tires on my flat bed for the atv is full of plugs I had to do my self. Knock on wood they are holding and the set is over 7 years old. But not running as much weight as I am on the fiver and not much to tear up on the flat bed.

I will see if I can find a hankook dealer in the area and go from there.
