Rubber Ride (torsion) hitch test run.

Hi all.

Rubber Ride Torsion Hitches NOW Available.

A bumper hitch made out of 1/2" aluminium/ aluminum square tubing with the rubber torsion feature built in. (inside it)

A US pattent was secured some time ago and Canadian pattents are comming.

I have had the opportunity to follow this little local company for a short while and just today the plasma cutter came out and off came me OEM trailer hitch.

That did not take long, and in it's place is a brand new, first ever in a 3G Dodge 2WD.

Company is located in Southern Alberta.

This hitch offers & promises smooth and amazing towing comfort with all the lugging gone.

There are about a dozen of these on GM & Ford also.

So, on Thursday we are hooking up the TT with about 14-1500# tongue weight.

Out trip will take us over the Canadian Rockies and all the way to Vancouver Island. About 2500km/ 1700 miles in total.

I will be back in about 12 days or so and give you the trip report.

These are also available in a Goose neck setup.

See you on the road.

Well, here is the long overdue followup.

It did not work! The function allowing the ball to float somewhat up and down does not allow the weight distribution to transfer the weight forward. this made the long test run a very stressful drive, too light on the front end of TV and way heavy on the rear of TV. I did not take the time to weigh myself prior to the test drive.

So, since then we have now immobilized my hitch, and last night I took it out to the scale and now have a great set-up, This is back where I was prior to this excercise. So what was the point?

But it REALLY works for trailers without the weight distribution. They (Rubber Ride) has them for goose neck & bumper pull adaptations. The owners are already driving around with 5th wheel test models too.

My hitch was modified to function both as a fixed mount (no moving/ flexing parts) as well as a true "Rubber Ride" torsion hitch, to use if I ever get a boat or need to pull a bobcat or similar. Two very sturdy aluminum/ aluminium angles were added and secured with 4 grade 8 bolts, all I have to do to release is put about 1000 lbs on the ball and remove the bolts.

Rubber Ride hitches are located in Nanton, Alberta........about 40 min south of Calgary.

Sorry about the lack of pics still. all in my computer. Rubber Ride are working on a website.
