Removing black streaks from RV
I have a aluminum sided Gulfstream with a rubber roof and the continous black streaks are driving me insane. I keep the roof clean and I put on new gutter spouts but I'm getting tired of buying $20.00 black streak remover from the RV dealer. Is there anything else (home made) that will get rid of this stuff?
Well, for one I would not pay 20 bucks for black streak remover when it is like 5 at walmart. It works very well and I buy it. I have used, with good success, straight (non-dilluted) Simple Green. It takes a bit more elbow grease but it does work.
It is the silicone caulking that is causing the black streaks.

Walmart sells black streak remover? I thought the streaking was from oxidation from the rubber roof
Here it is, all you will ever need for removing black streaks from a camper.
It's called "Totally Awesome" available at your local dollar store. I diluted it down a little, works 100% of the time.
You need NO other products to remove your marks.
Plan on waxing afterwards, it will really help with keeping the streaks away. Also, look into "gutter extensions" or downspouts, whatever they are called. plastic pieces you can attach to your gutters to get the water to pour out away from the camper sides.

I clean our rubber roof three times a year with Spic-N-Span and water and never have any black streaks. Our 5th wheel has gel coat sides but that should make no difference. Keeping the roof clean does it for ours.
Yes Walmart sells Black streak remover... It is Made by Camco and called Full timers choice Black streak remover. Less than 5 bucks a 32oz bottle. In the automotive section by the other RV stuff.
