Reece Hitch rails & Bed Mats

Looking for Ideals I recently installed rails for my hitch . I've always used the rubber bed mat an was wondering what any of you have done when the hitch is removed to level up when putting the mat back in & or have you just cut it out too go around everything an leave it in ? I use the truck alot for farm work .

I have the hitch rails also and if I need to level up I will throw in a couple of pieces of ply-wood cut to fit. This means I have three pieces to fit in the bed. I also do not use a bed mat since I have the spray in liner from Line-X.

Thats kinda what I was thinking what did you use 3/4" ? I think my mat would go over that an be level . I assume you had the line-x sprayed in then mounted the rails? I've entertained the thought of the line-X I just hate everything slideing around on a steel bed . I've also thought about cutting my mat to fit ,then if a level floor was needed use the plywood . Lots of options I suppose just figureing out which one is the least hassle . How do you like your 6.7 in that 08 what kind of mileage do you get just running around ? Mine is a 01 Quad Cab I get about 16 running around 22 HWY but I use Amsoil bumper to bupper an that helps . Anyway thanks for the input just looking for ideals .

I got tired of having rails in my last truck and even though they ran front to rear I decided to go with a B&W and 5ver companion. The companion lifts out and leaves a level bed as there are no rails.

I think the plywood is 3/4" but it is in the garage attic right now so this is from memory.

I had the rails installed first by my RV dealer in the painted bed. I than removed the rails and had the line-x installed, this way there was no exposed metal that was not covered by the line-x. Nothing will slide in the bed with the line-x sprayed in.

My 08 is deleted and my normal mileage in city/highway, this is a 60/40 split is around 16 MPG's. When towing my 5er I have had a low of 10 and a high of 13 MPG's. Usually 13 MPG is the average for towing. I have recorded one fill-up as 20.3 MPG, but this was all highway driving no city driving at all.

I like the plywood over taking out the reese and using the companion, i know they have good luck with them, but i just think the reese looks safer.

Hi, I have a Mega Cab with a short bed. The bed was sprayed in Nov of 08 for $540.
There are holes drilled in the bed that will provide cleance for 1/2 bolts.
