So as the title states what is a good "locking" hitch pin? I very rarely use my bumper pull hitch only two trailers I own are bumper pulls and I pull them vary rarely. I just had to cut the old locking pin out of the thing because the cap came off and the mud sand cow poo and water rusted the lock up tighter than a frogs you know what and no amount of ether wd veggie oil would free it up. I usally leave the all aluminum receiver hitch in with the 2'' ball so I would like to keep it locked and kept there because I use it as a step more than any thing.

 

i have a bolt and nut tightened good and tight to prevent easy theft

 

That is pretty much what I think I am going to do I got allot of bolts n nuts

 

I enlarged the hole at the end of the pin and inserted a Master Padlock.
Mainly to protect my Ram's head hitch cover.

Yep...did the samething and the hitch is still there years later.

 

Never had a reason to lock my hitch. I normally won't leave it installed unless towing.
I believe in the old adage, a lock only stops a random thief and slows down a serious thief.
¼ oz of lead is the best theft deterent, but not socially acceptable.

 

I've got the Master lock locking hitch pin and keep my hitch on the truck. Just having the hitch on the truck has kept a lot of folks from getting too close in bad weather when they realize they hit it before they hit the bumper.
