rear bumper towing question
rear bumper towing question
I need to replace my rear bumper . damage has occurred . my truck came with a OEM towing package. I'd like some input on a replacement that will NOT diminish my capacity. Will I need a different hitch for a healthier bumper? What brand of bumpers does anybody here have experience with? Hitches ? I've looked on the net at different parts re-salers,and hardly any of them list any bumpers at all for 2006 Ram 2500 trucks!Aren't they similar to 2004-5 trucks? I have posted this question before, but with limited response and not in this subject catagory...thanx in advance!
from the reciever hitch... I ask this also partially due to fact I'm told some replacement bumpers will require re placement and/or removal of the stock hitch...?

Compmoto, about the only bumper I know of that can replace the stocker and still allow you to use the factory receiver is the Frontier Bumper. I wanted to buy a Ranch Hand pipe bumper for the rear, but they only have a 10,000lb rated capacity and that goes down to 5000lbs with their receiver tube. The Frontier allows you to keep the stock receiver, yet provides a durable diamond plate reinforced bumper that looks good, imo. I think I payed like $425 and I sold my stocker for I think $150 to a guy who had backed his truck into something and needed a replacement.

Good luck...hope that helps.
I have the same Frontier Gear rear bumper as Texas CTD - it sure is a nice unit. When I was looking for a replacement it was the only one that I could find where you did not have to remove the factory receiver hitch and decrease your towing capacity. I can say enough about the fit and finish of the Frontier Gear bumpers.

That's a NICE bumper and the price seems real right to me! Anybody know if Brush Buster is still in business? They made front and rear bumpers and were out of Laredo & San Antonio. REAL heavy duty; like a Ranch Hand or maybe a bit more.
