propane or gas generator?
we converted our little coleman generator to run on propane. we used a regulator off of a forklift. the main reason was b/c of the small fuel tank that came stock. now we can use a forklift cylinder and it'll run all night long. the way its hooked up, we can still run gasoline if need be, but i cant remember using it on gas since we converted it.
no comlaints other than the exhaust smells bad IMO

Actually, propane is much easier to have on hand than gasoline is. Of course I'm assuming the generator is for home/emergency use if the power goes off. My electric-start Honda generator is tied into my 500 gallon propane tank that supplies the house. If the power goes off, these's no way I can get enough gasoline to operate the generator for a week or two because in my area, all the gasoline stations are out of service also. In addition, keeping a large supply of gasoline on hand, keeping it fresh and keeping it safe is a big challenge. If needed, I could run my generator for months with the propane I have on hand and I don't have to worry about keeping propane from getting stale.
I don't have one, but for RV use I can see the advantage of LP over gasoline.
Gas is volatile and a pain to handle.
Propane is already in use in the RV (and detectors installed), easy to re-fill and store.
Propane will however net you less overall power on the same unit when compared to gas.

Why not have both? http://www.propane-generators.com/
I converted my coleman over using a kit from them. The reason I converted is because I dont use the generator to often and the gas gets old. The propane I let it sit for 3-6 months, start it and runs great.

we have the onan 3600kv propane and a small honda2000 gas for backup. love the onan nice and quiet and already having fuel on board is a plus. it does take up alot of room. if i was to do it again i would also consider teaming two honda 2000's together for when i go out in the dez. most rv campgrounds that i've been to have hookups. just my twocents. we do enjoy the onan and use it often........
