Pop-Up camper tires

I am looking for something better than the POS Carlisle tires that keep blowing out.... 2000 miles, 2 flats.... this needs to stop happening.... I know there are options for the larger trailers out there, but what about for a pop-up camper (single 3k axle)

What is the weight of your PU fully loaded?
Are you inflating your tires to the maximum pressure as stated on the sidewall?
What is the diameter and load rating on your existing tires?
Do you have enough wheel well clearance to consider moving up to a larger diameter wheel/tire?

I am thinking Goodyear Marathons.... Any thoughs? Better than Carlisle, right?

Carlisle tires have a recent history of problems and most people will recommend staying away from them. In addition to looking into other tire manufacturers you should look closer at your load ratings. According to the load ratings you provided and the GVW of your PU, your current tires are at their weight limit when your PU is fully loaded. I suspect that if you weigh your PU fully loaded the actual weight probably exceeds the GVW, that's a very common problem with PU's.

I recommend that you start by getting your PU weighed fully loaded. If you do in fact exceed the GVW then I suggest that you take a serious look at moving up to a 14" wheel/tire which should have a load rating of about 1750# each. Check to make sure the 14" wheel/tires will fit in your wheel wells with proper clearance. If the 14" won't fit and if your actual weight is at or slightly below the GVW then try the Goodyear Marathons 185/80R13 which comes in a 1480# load rating. In any case, always run your PU tire pressures at the maximum pressure as stated on the sidewall of the tire.

I have had three carlisles (175/80r13's - load range C) blow out on my popup.. two in on one trip, causing about $900 worth of damages... I found a dealer that could get me Greenball Towmasters in a D rated tire.. and that is the way I am going..

I am not so sure about the Marathons either.. My dad has a 29' fifth wheel and ordered 4 Marathons (not sure of the size, but they are 15")- as soon as they aired the tires, 3 tires had bulges/separations in the sidewalls.. Dealer ordered 3 replacements, and out of that two of those has bulges/sidewall separations.. Doesnt look promising..
