Just keep in mind that plowing more than anything will shorten an auto transmission life in this truck. A lot of that comes from not stopping all the way between shifting from forward to reverse or vice versa. Some of the guys around here are downright violent when shifting - always trying to rush to the next job as soon as possible. My automatics have done fine but I'm not in any rush either

I'm aware of the abuse sustained from shifting before you should, I just wasn't sure which one was smarter to do it with. I know heat kills autos, but I wasn't sure how much of a hassle it was with a manual. I'm still up in the air on it. I think I'm just going to end up with whatever the truck has (when I find it). This is going to be personal/work truck so it's going to need to be exactly what I want this time versus my last truck which was just whatever truck was in good shape.

Thanks for the tips so far!

Oh, and why do you say you're too small for contracts? I assume you mean commercial contracts, as you can easily do residential contracts. Around here winters are hit or miss and the best way to make money is on a contract. I'm working towards a 12v though, so hopefully I can just run it on veg oil as well.

I have plowed for 5 years with stick then auto now this year will be the stick DODGE...if you put the plow switch on the stick its not to bad...as i read more control...but the atuo would just spin around in the lot going through the gears then i would go the other way..the 6.0 was junk but it did sound good spinning!the 7.3 stick was a work horse and i hope the DODGE will be also!
I would go stick or should i say DID GO STICK AGAIN!!!
