PJ Trailers

Would like some feedback from owners of PJ trailers....How tough are they? How is there warranty? How is their service??

Looked at a 12' 10K dump bed tag today....Not what I wanted, but I can order a 14' 14K goose for $6675...I gotta say, I was IMPRESSED...Even my father was impressed....The 3-way gate was sweet, plus alot of other goodies that make for nice touches...

Im already pre-appoved for the loan, 5.75%...The trailer looks great, the loan is great...Just decided to sleep on it for some reason...Im gonna call the dealer tomorrow and ask the dozens of questions I've thought of since I left the lot....Besides the questions above, and my questions about options, delivery, etc from the dealer, what else should I be asking?

My buddy and I each bought a 18' PJ car hauler last year down in Montana. Mine was 18K and his was 10K. The removable fenders were a little cheesy, but they each hauled a truck and a bunch of gear to Alaska no prob. We both sold them once we got up here because we didn't need them, plus we made money on the trailer. My buddy's trailer had a few things that were not square and such, he was not impressed with the construction of the trailer, mine was fine though. Might have been a Friday afternoon trailer.
Hope that helps

Pull a 25+5 PJ Flatbed. 102" wide. Dual Tandems. Pressure treated lumber floor is holding up pretty well for now. Opted for the powder coated frame. Good trailer. Just my .02

We had a 16' dump trailer. It worked great for us, no complaints whatsoever. If the deal is right, then I'd go for it.

We used one just like that last year as a planting trailer and we put a 3,000 gallon tank on it and about 4 skids of seed and insecticides. Probably well over 30,000lbs . The trailer seemed to hold up fine, but it was just to much weight for a 3/4 ton truck, or any truck for that matter. We went back to the semi trailer this year. Good over all trailer.

The PJ dumps are the most versitle dumps on the market. Look around on the web and find a better price. Drive a little and save a lot. I have a friend who purchased a new bumper pull dump for less than 5 grand, just a year ago. It was below the local dealers cost.

I drove ALOT yesterday and this was the best trailer I found and the price seems right....They had a 12' bumper pull for 4588....Im gonna call today and get a bottom dollar from the guy......Heck, its priced higher than the cheap trailers on ebay, but lower than trailers of similar quality....I should own one by the end of the week....

I've had my 18' flatbed bumper pull for 12 years. No issues. Just wish I got the dovetail.....

One suggestion: After the 1st year, when you inspect the bearings, and change the grease, use synthetic grease. I did not touch mine for ~3 years & only replaced one bearing as it looked like it was starting to score the race.

Well I called the dealer yesterday and asked my dozen or so Q's....My last Q was what is bottom dollar....They told me that there was a little bit of wiggle room, but PJ had just sent a fax notifying dealers of a price increase on certain trailers and features...$1200 to $2000 depending on the trailer...Since they quoted me $6675 they would stand by their quote...So I went this morning and put money down on my order....They showed me the PJ fax, and yep, I got a deal 14' 14K single cylinder scissor lift, GN, 3-way tailgate, with all the goodies....Hopefully be here in a couple weeks....

Can't comment on the dump trailers but my buddy has a 25ft. dovetail gooseneck he bought last year and I personally think it is a great trailer. The paint is nice, pulls great but it does feel heavy. I think you will be happy with your purchase.

pjs have a weak door system. I went with texas bragg, great heavy duty pin and lock system. Most of the guys that dont have the large pin in the doors end up chain and binding there doors shut after the loaders start tearing them up.

Don't by new, post katrina everybody and there brother is selling large dumps for cheap. Let me know if you need some contacts. Also, go for the 12,000 axles if you have the extra money. The power system they provide is a joke. After a couple heavy dumps per day the battery will be dead so you need a hard wire to a single pin connecter in you truck bed with the other end on the trailer. The trailers will haul alot more than they will dump so I use a come along slung over the goose bar to get the heavy loads up. Now that I am back to using it for my construction debris the loads are light. Alot of guys were using a warn type winch with a ****** block up high to get the big loads up. Or you can just ask the dozer or excavator to help you up, done that alot to.

Angry

6-1/2 weeks and its yet to be delivered

3 weeks ago my dealer said PJ told them the load was "15% completed"...No news from the dealer lately, so I emailed PJ directly...This is their response:

The dealer is your contact for the status of your order. We cannot tell you when your trailer will be built or arrive. Your dealer will need to contact his sales representative to determine a date for when this trailer will be produced.
I dont see whats so hard about looking up my invoice Havent even taken delivery and Im already miffed with PJ Got a few "jobs" lined up and no equipment to get them done....
