Question owners of add on overdrives

anyone using aftermarket overdrives. i need some real road use comments. let me know the brand, any pro or cons of the unit. or any special things i should know before buying a unit.
it will be going into a truck towing 10k with a 727 auto. i'm able to tow ok, but i'm spinning the engine over 3k on the hiway empty.
when towing i drive slower so it's not an issue then.
thanks

Guess the lack of responses is an answer in itself.

I had looked into those when I had the old Ford dooley and talked to the service manager of the biggest tranny shop in the Baltimore area, and he said that they loved those things - removing them from trucks of unhappy owners and restoring the truck to their original configuration.

I know there are lots of "good" reasons to put them on; but he talked me out of one. Not sure if it'd pay for itself, even if you have $2K to burn.

My sons truck has the Gearvendor over / under drive on it and it is schweeet. We pulled my truck on my 30 foot gooseneck from Virginia out the Indiana and it was a real life saver on the mountains. It kinda splits the gears and helps a lot especially since his truck has the 410 rear. Drops the engine speed around 400 rpm's when you go into the high side of 5th.

Neighbor has both US and Gear vendors on 2 different trucks, says he much prefers the GV unit, shifts much nicer. He`s still gettin 16+ pullin 10k around behind his 94 2wd stick with some mods.

Someday I will have a US Gear OD. I have heard that it is not as well suited to an auto as the gear vendors, but it will handle 2000 lbs of torque.

The GV is all hydraulic, I think, so it is alot better suited to the auto tranny.
