Not To Be Bragadocious - BUT
I couldn't help but to brag just a little bit. Our truck in sig. just pulled our 11,000 pound 5th wheel RV (Total GCVW = 18,000lbs) from central Alberta to Earp, California and recorded an astounding, at least in my mind, 15.755MPG (CDN) and 15.139MPG (US) over the 1,681.125 mile journey. Now, granted, this is on a freshly rebuilt transmission /new TC (billet output) which shifted and ran flawlessly and may have helped up the MPG's a lot - I don't know. ****! - this is a sweet ride!
Cheers!

wow, that is impressive. Congrats.
For a good comparison, over the summer I went 5000 miles with my 5er and 22k GCVW (just a tad under that according to CAT scales) from CA through Idaho, Wyo, Montana, Wash. and Oregon back to home and averaged 10.25 for the entire trip. So you are about 50% better mileage than I was (and 50% less fuel cost).
Very good! But of course, if you were coming from Red Deer/Edmonton all the way down... It's all downhill and wind at your back

Thanks for the replies guys! Yes, I was pretty darn happy when I saw the final numbers. I crunched very carefully and kept accurate track of my fuel stops and conversion charts. There were a few climbs that I thought would never end! We kept speed at about 63 to 65 MPH and didn't approach mountain climbs with the intent of achieving speed records - just let the beast find her own rhythm and kept the RPM's at just over 2,000.
My brother, who was travelling with us in his 2011 Tundra gasser with 9,500lb RV in tow, averaged 10.5 MPG over the trip.
Cheers and thanks for reading!

In comparison my 2011 3.73 4X4 auto deleted on mild with cruise set gets 9-10 mpg towing my 13-14,000 lb 5ver at around 70mph, driving with cruise off greatly improves the number.

That is some good mileage, Mike. You didn't tell us what your truck is, but these things get some great mileage if you don't push them - let them hang in the sweet spot.

Awwwwww - crap!
I'm no mathematician but there are 3.8L in a US gallon & 4.5L in an imperial gallon. So.....if you got 15.755 miles per imperial gallon of fuel then you should be able to travel 84.4% of the distance travelled on an imperial gallon when you only have 84.4% of the fuel volume (1 US gallon). That works out to 13.3 miles per US gallon. Just saying.
Thanks for your gentle correction to my poor math!
Cheers! (and still happy)

You sir, are correct! My math sucks as I forgot to convert a CDN purchase from L to USG. So, I fixed my spreadsheet and recalculated with my new total of USG. My new calculation for US MPG comes out to 13.111. Still, a respectable number IMHO given the load, terrain and overall speeds. In Canada the mileage figure of 15.744 is considered to be spectacular, EH!
