New Una Goose

I just saw the new Una Goose gooseneck hitch that can be installed WITHOUT drilling into the frame of the truck. The dealer wanted 850.00 for the hitch and Prodigy 90185 brake controller installed. Does anyone know an internet vendor who sells Una Goose gooseneck hitches so that I can compare his price to see if it is fair or not? I can find prodigy prices pretty easily. Thanks

I think the B&W is a better hitch and it is the original "No Drill" install. I put those in with a Voyager 9030 for $549. A prodigy would be a liitle more though. $850 is waaaaaay too much. :

Re:New Una Goose

Is the B & W a no drill (on the frame installation) for the 2003 Dodge? Please let me know this if you're familiar with the 2003 setup, or has some installed a B&W on their 2003?

Yes it is a no drill set-up for the 2003. I have had two 2003 Ram 3500's and both of my trucks have had this system. It is teh best set-up on teh market, period.

I put the B&W on my self and it is no drill and a great hitch. I love it. Pull a 40' gooseneck that weighs in about 22,000# (30,000# GCVW) pretty often and it works great. I haven't tried the 5th wheel adapter for it yet so I have no comment on that. But the thing is just awsome, and no dumb rails and stuff in your way on the bed.

Ardvark, if you are even slightly mechanically inclined, you can put the B&W in yourself. The hardest part is cutting the 4" round hole in the bed. B&W gives you the measurment where to cut it, and I always measure it about 5 times before I start cutting. All you'll need is a 4" whole saw, a 19mm socket and wrench, and a 14mm socket and wrench. I'll sell ya one if ya want. $295 plus shiping to your door step.

Re:New Una Goose

I just installed the B&W. I agree the hardest part of the install is drilling the 4" hole, both mentally and physically. My neighbor gave me a hard time for drilling holes in a brand new truck. Second tough part is lifting the center section up and setting it on the bolts. I took a come-a-long and lifted the section up and held it in place while I fastened everything. Goes in just like the instructions say. If you use the safety chain loops the passenger side is hard to drill out because the exhaust pipe is right under the holes. I don't have a right angle drill so I took a dremel tool and made a small pilot hole on that side and then finished drilling out the holes from the top. Torqueing the bolts can be a challenge on some of them too. Took me about me about three and half hours.

Re:New Una Goose

My truck had a B&W Turnover Ball gooseneck in it when I bought it. Since I only pull a TT, I don't use it, but it sure looks like a great unit.

Hidden under the Bedrug and Tonneau now, but at least I know it's there if I ever need to pull something big.
