New car hauler
New car hauler
Well my new car hauler is finally finished. The plan was for me to build it myself so I had bought the axles, springs and wheels ahead of time but other things came along and time ran out so I got a local manufacturer to build it for me. Using my 9 foot heavy duty ramps, my 7000 lb axles, 8000 lb springs and my wheels. I had them build it with no fenders as I wanted them removable so you can drive over the tires (which are almost level with the deck) with something wider then the deck. I pull with a 5ver hitch but use a 2 5/16 ball on the front of the Landrover for maneuvering around the yard. I may yet go to a 2 5/16 ball for pulling also.
The deck is just 20 ft made from 20 foot lengths of 2X8, I weighed it yesterday and it came in at 3490 lbs with the spare and ramps. Its not very big but it will take a CTD or skidsteer loader. I used it for a little over 10,000 lbs of sod last weekend for some friends and it towed nice. Next up is a 2700 km round trip on some pretty crappy roads to the farm to take back a Massey loader we just rebuilt.

Looks nice. If you don't mind, how much do you have in it? I am looking for something about that size, maybe a couple feet longer and don't really want to spend $3000 or more on a new one (I don't need the 7000 lb axles and I would do a bumper pull).
Thanks

I wish it was only $3000. All in total was around $5200. The running gear and five wheels cost $1450 wholesale and I had the ramps left from my last car hauler. $3800 to build the trailer. You can get new bumper pull car haulers for around $2400. I sold my last car hauler 7000 lb 16 foot for $1500 in around 2 hours on line and the phone didn't stop ringing. I had to remove the ad.
