narrow drive way
narrow drive way
A buddy of mine has just bought a 4 horse trailer with living quarters and all the goodies approximately 30 ft long and the driveway they have to pull into is pretty narrow. widening the drive is definatly a future project but whats the best way to get it pulled in. there really isnt enough room to swing wide enough to get it moved around far enough. I have never really had this problem since I have a wide entry at my place. But i thought i would just ask all the pros out there whats the easiest way to get that sucker in there with not alot of trouble and time spent tryin to barely squeeze it by. Thanks for all the help
A friend of mine had the saem problem with his toy hauler.. Had to turn a corner and there really was not enough room to turn it with the truck..
He bought an electric dolly.. has a couple of wheels on it powered by a small electric motor.. backs it in the best he can then unhooks and puts the dolly on the ball and moves it by hand..
Pretty slock little set up.. I think it was around $300.00

back it in carefully, or put a hitch on the front of the truck, and drop the trailer, then mount it to the front and drive in.
Where I park my 20 ft GN (over 30 ft from the back bumper) requires me to back in from the side. A telephone pole prevents backing straight, and the driveway is not really wide. And a fire hydrant prevents me from going over the curb to 'make' the driveway wider.
The trailer sits between the neighbors fence and my garage. I have 6" clearance on the fence side, and 10" clearance on the garage side. Needless to say, it's a tight fit.
I took an old bumper and stuck the mounting brackets in the ground in such a way that if I just kiss the bumper with the trailer tires while backing in at about a 25 deg angle, I can then straighten it up, and she'll be sitting about perfectly centered on the 2x12's I have on the ground for the tires to sit on.

Sounds like you need to install a two wheel drive low range option and just back the trailer down the drive way at a snails pace thats what i have to do with our 32ft stock trailer that fits no were just think of it as good practice
