Mileage is about 12mpg at an av. 60mph ,17-1800 rpms, total weight around 11000lbs with the camper lightly loaded. Is this out of line. Tires ,Revos ,65lbs front & 60lbs rear. Would a chip help here? I don't want to get into expensive or complicated mods.

 

That mileage isn't bad. I was getting 9-10mpg when towing when I first got my truck. I installed a box (Dr. Performance Stage I) and my mileage jumped up to 15 instantly. Just remember if you add a box, also install gauges.

My advice, first get some guages. Fuel pressure--so you know the VP has a chance.
EGT to protect the pistons and turbo.

Now get some Mach 1.6 injectors from Formula 1 ( Don M ), then a Catcher or MAD ECM.
The injectors will help power and mileage, the ECM will help the pump timing.
