Mirrors

Because the '03 door designs are obviously different, you'd need the base from the '01-'02 with the mirror head of an '03. There was a pretty good post over on the TDR by someone who had done it.
dito

Regarding '03 Power/ heated tow mirrors for '02 and earlier trucks. I have some directions somewhere about the swap. If memory serves correct, you must remove the mirror head from the arm to attach to your original tow mirrors. I would assume the mounts to the truck are different. I have not done this swap myself, but I am definately going to look into it.

I have the tow mirrors, but hate having to run around the truck to adjust em.
That is exactly right.
The only way to get the factory Flag mount mirrors with power and heat is to buy a set that fits an 03 and a set that fits and 02 and older and switch the base plates on the mirrors. It's a pretty involved process and takes a little time but can be done.

I have the little sport style mirrors on my truck and will be doing the swap when I can aford to buy 2 sets of mirrors. The factory Flag mount mirrors are the only thing I think looks right on these trucks, the others just look out of place or something. :

By the way, if anyone has a set of the factory Flag mount mirrors they would like to sell I would be willing to buy them.

Such as: length of extension, size of mirror, where to buy, etc. Have you seen them on a truck? Do they look good?

Thanks
Grampaw Bill
Re:Mirrors
I can give details but why don't you just run by your local Dodge dealer and look at some. They should have a new 03' with those mirrors on them. You can get them right through the parts department through mopar accessories.
Re:Mirrors
46mech, did you get your mirrors? I looked at both the sites you gave, and I noticed on the **** site, that they had "slide out towing mirrors" that just replaces your existing head. I was wondering if you had heard anything on these?
Thanks
Grampaw Bill
Just like Fishin2Deep4U said, in order for a 2002 or older truck to get the power & heat features in those new tow mirrors, you'd have to build your own.
Though the styles are the same, the '03 mirrors are pwr/heated and the '01s-'02s are not. I was told it took about an hour or so to swap them out. I'll be going with this style myself. The picture attached isn't my truck, but the guy told me he loved how stable the mirror was and how easy the swap was. You'll find this same style with a few different brand names.
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...pa_mirrors.JPG

Granpaw click on that link that is 46 mechs truck and those are the **** mirrors that slide!
Re:Mirrors
Granpaw,
I have the stock electric mirrors on my truck, but am planning on going with the **** electrics. I don't want to go with the replacement mirror heads that slide out because the existing mirrors vibrate so much as is....I'd hate to think what they would do when you move them further out. I am told that the **** electrics are solid and I like the look.
Click on the picture attachment below and you'll see what the tow mirrors look like on our trucks. The truck in the picture belongs to RamminOn; it is also a 1995. So you can see, the '01-'02 tow mirrors fit, it's just that he lost the electric features he had with his stock power mirrors.
Re:Mirrors
Luke S.
What are the chances the Dodge would build/market as a package the newer powered/heated towing mirror heads with the 2nd Gen. bases? ???
I know I'd go for a set.

PowerVisions
Another alternative are the electrically adjustable, electrically extendable & retractable, heated PowerVisions. We tow a 36' 5th wheel and swapped out the factory electrically adjustable, heated mirrors for PowerVisions. More info here:

http://www.powervisionmirrors.com/

Rusty
