Still won't load for me. Can you post up the GVWR for the 4x4 and 4x2 SRW megacab models? I know mine is 9900# as per door sticker.

Check HERE. GVWR for 4x2 Laramie H LB QC dually is 11,500# and GVWR for comparable 4x4 Laramie H LB QC dually is 12,200#.

MegaCab SB SRW 3500 is 9,900# for 4x2 and 4x4. This is an arbitrary limit to keep the SRW trucks under 10,000# GVWR for legal reasons.

The Mega cab 4x4 2500 is 9000GVWR.The 6 speed truck I looked at weighed over 7600 empty with barley enough fuel to make it to the station, and no accesorys.Put a 5th wheel hitch in one, fill the fuel tank, add the side steps ,and extras, and you have a truck that weighs 8200 empty.Just 5 good sized people will put it over the 9000GVWR,forget the pin weight of the 5 th wheel or travel trailer.
I know it can handle more, but it isnt legal, and your insurance company will not pay out if theres a problem that can be traced back to being over that number.
Rusty,as for the 9900lbs on srw trucks, for whatever reason, the new Dodge 3500chassis cab srw is 10200,and the 05/05 CC ford f 250 is 10000GVWR,the f350 SRW CCLB is 11,500GVWR,the short bed CC is 11400.I seen them on the dealers lots.If Fords doing it,Dodge can they need too with what the empty weight is on the new Mega cabs.

The solid 4x4 front axle also has a greater weight capacity than the IFS 2wd set ups, this accounts for the majority of the difference in GVWR in Dodges.

There's only one official Dodge website that lists towing capacities for these trucks, and as I said before it won't load here at work whether I click on your link or the one on the Dodge website.

You said earlier that the Megacab had a lower GVWR than the other models. That may be true for a dually, but it's not true for the SRW models. Arbitrary or not, the CTD Megacab 3500 models are rated at 9900# and the 2500's are rated at 9200# - same as the QC models.

Others were talking about how the Megacab was not designed for towing. What about it is not designed for towing? It has the same frame, drivetrain, and GVWR as the other models (excluding duallies as RustyJC posted). The only weight capacity difference is about 200# for the added weight of the extra cab.

There are errors on the DC capacities website. I think the 11.5k for a dually QC longbed is wrong. They also state that weights for short bed is heavier than the long bed. Towing capacities are in-correct. Look a little deeper.

If you think it's wrong, it's your obligation to correct the data I've provided from the Dodge website.

I have no obligation to you or DC. I'll give you several examples and that is enough to show that there are errors. The drop down box indicates 6.25' box and later 8' box

First number is SRW & second is DRW

Towing Capacity - Standard [lb] 13850 / 10200 Details

Late model duallies have over 15k towing capacities.
********************************

Base Curb Weight [lb] - with Manual Transmission [lb] 6930 / 6647 Details

The drop down box indicates 6.25' box as weighing 6930 & 8' box as weighing 6647.

I don't give a crap what the numbers say. I'll keep loading mine until I don't feel comfortable any more. I've had 2000 lbs of pin-type load (at least 800 lb trailer tongue weight with 1200 lb golf cart in the bed) and the truck barely squat. Packed for the week my coach weighed at least 8500 lbs (7500lb UVW + food and supplies + 50 gal water + bikes and toys, etc.). And with me, the wife, my son and our two large dogs in the cab the truck had no problems, and I wouldn't hesitate to put another 4000 lbs in tow and another 1000 lbs on the truck. If it squat too much I'd add a set of bags and call it good. If I have trouble stopping the load an exhaust brake will cure that.
