MaxBrake Controller

Does anyone know why Southwest Wheel quit selling the Max Brake ontroller, they don't even list it on their site anymore. They have a new one called Direct Link now but I have never heard of it. I was going to upgrade to the Max Brake after my Prodigy P2 took a crap.

That's strange. I put one in my wife's '03 and that had to be the best controller I've ever used. My Jordan crashed last month and I was saving for a Maxbrake but I guess we'll see now...

I am not sure, but under The Max Brake web site they still list South West Wheel as a dealer.
Here is the web site link. http://www.maxbrake.com/ They List other companies in Texas if you need to buy in Texas.

After reading about it, I would prefer Direct Link. Maybe they ran into something with tapping the hydraulics (legal) and went this route. Pretty slick!!!

After talking to Southwest Wheel about the difference between the MaxBrake and the Direct Link, they said although the MaxBrake was a good controller they felt the Direct Link is a step above the MaxBrake. I guess I will find out, I ordered the Direct Link controller today.

DirecLink "looks" like it may be the future. Their anti-lock module is one I'm waiting to see if it becomes available soon. Trailer disc brakes with anti-lock behind a truck with same will be a major step forward.

DirecLink's site has a multi-page brochure to send to anyone requesting it, a very good review of trailer brakes in general, and the possible future. Good campfire pass-around.

Just installed my Direct Link controller in, very simple to install, 1) connect to brake controller connecter
2) connect to OBDII connecter
3) plug in the hand held remote.
Then all I had to do is start the truck up and press the brake and release, then it started configuring for my truck. The nice thing about it is the hand held remote, mounted it next to the radio, looks like a CB mic and if I want all I have to do is pick up the remote to change any settings. Haven't had a chance to tow anything with it yet but I will let you know.

Once you mount it, how 'bout some pics? Looking forward to report.

Looks to be all electronic with no physical pressures to work off of. Glad you asked that question, I've been pretty focussed on the anti-lock.
