Maxbrake in a 4th gen?

Has anyone, or know of anyone that is using a Maxbrake controller in a 4th gen truck? If so does it just plug into the existing harness once the factory controller is unplugged and how does it interface with the ECM/PCM and exhaust brake operation?

I installed a maxbrake into my dad's 2010 1/2 ton ram. The factory controller was removed (because it sucked) and it plugged straight in, no problem. No pcm/ecm issues.

You will like the maxbrake. I have it on my 3rd gen. No issues with engine brake.

Thanks for the reply, I plan to try the factory one again, after the dealer replaced it last fall I didn't get a chance to try it much but the first time it hiccups it's out of there and because I have read nothing but good things about the Maxbrake that's what I'll install.

Just a FYI, my dad's controller was replaced 3 times due to it not working properly. Hopefully yours works, but I would not hold my breath.

Man, I been back and forth about this. My 40fter is hydraulic, not sure how that is gonna work with the factory getup when I get the trailer restored.

Been looking at the Maxbrake, and Ill be, if that company aint out of Creole, LA. That isnt but about 60 miles from me....

Interesting. I might even know who owns them. Or my Uncle probably would. Thats his neck of the woods.

It doesn't seem right to remove something that's "integrated" into the truck from the factory but...... like the DPF, NOX, CCV, EGR and Cooler that were "integrated" into the truck if they don't work properly what's the point of keeping them?

The MAXBRAKE reads the pressure directly. Not making guesses like the factory piece. The former type is the way to go for best brake control by the driver.

That said I've had some mail that indicates that the MB may be out of production. Don't wait, IOW.

Otherwise, the next brake controller is the DIRECLINK that is a bit more sophisticated than it appears (especially if one adds the trailer anti-lock they offer); despite the criticism by others of this type design it "might" be best if the MB is no longer available.

The factory piece is not what it should be. Might be someday, but not yet.
