Maxbrake controller and 2nd gen Ram question

Just curious where people have tied their Maxbrake sensor into the brake lines on a 2nd gen Ram.

It looks I have two lines coming out of the master cylinder, going to a connection block, then going into the ABS module. Wheres the best place to tap into the lines? I want to get this right the first time, and not risk kinking a line anywhere.

Forward line directly off of the master cylinder?

How much flex will I have? I'm a little worried about kinking a brake line. Did you guys have to bleed the brakes too, or just the new Maxbrake line?

The fitting is a T that goes right into the master cylinder. If you call MaxBrake with the application, they can supply you with the fitting. The original line will easily go where it needs to.

I installed mine on the front brake line and then bent the tubing to go back and use a tystrap it fast to the back line. It has been good now for three years.I had a friend hold the brakes and bled the maxbrake fitting on the end. Works great.

The install was easy. Think the hardest part was getting the inside connector for the sensor through the fire wall. The OEM brake lines have more flex in them than they appear to.

My T fitting when tightened, had the pressure port facing to the rear and downward. So I bent the sensor line into a U shape with the sensor oriented vertically and secured to one of the hydro booster lines.

Came up with a neat trick to bleed the lines that I'd like to pass along. I used a marinade injector, with no needle, to draw some of the fluid from the reservoir. I then loosened the T fitting and "injected" brake fluid from the sensor end, towards the T fitting. I even prefilled the sensor too. I only had to bleed the sensor with the brake pedal after connecting it since a little leaked out when I put it on.

Pretty happy I got all the air out of the lines, the Maxbrake is installed and wired. The calibration was super easy. My display is reading "Check trailer wiring", instead of "trailer unplugged". I've read that this is somewhat normal though.

Can't wait to go pick up our new camper later this week now! Thanks for all the help guys

Glad it went smooth JR. Mine reads "check trailer wiring" even if I have a 4pole flat connected to it but once I hook a 7 pin it goes away. I set mine at 45 and then normally run my gain @34, just depends on the terrain because I like to have the trailer grab a little more in the mtns. You're going to be amazed how well it works.

I set mine for 42 (right between 40 and 45 like the manaul said), and set the gain for 40. I'll probably change it when I pick up the trailer depending on how it reacts.

Hey, how high can you get your display to read when you push the brake pedal? Mine will read 999 a little bit before I get the brake pedal all the way down (like in a panic stop).

I think mine will read about the same. Try the parking brake feature when you hook up, it's pretty cool.

I install mire on the front line and traced that to the front breaks. I wanted the front break pressure to use for my Maxbreak . That way I would eliminate any chance of loss of control . the trailer will help keep the truck and the trailer straight under hard breaking .
