Mag-hytech

Is mag-hytec DD a good addition to my tranny for towing?

Thanks,
John

Yes. It provides 4 quarts over stock for extra capacity and cooling. Most tranny builders recommend them....or a similar product.

HIJACK!!!

should help your auto definatly.

what about the rear end cover. Im trying to convince myself to get the cover for my 99 since its up for lube service. I pretty much only use the truck to tow with.. nothing special just 6-7k almost everyweekend in the summer through the sierras in the heat etc...... worth 240$ im leaning towards YES!

Looking through the Geno's catalog the Double Deep, gets you 4 quarts for $270, the deep gets you nothing on 98 and up for $225, and the PML gets you 2 quarts on for 98-06 for $189. Only the PML does not include a pretapped fitting for temp sensor, only a flat area to put one.

I don't think the MH differential cover is really that necessary. I have one and I like it. Glad I got it. But it is more for a the coolness factor than anything. I see alot of high horsepower trucks and heavy haulers that pull without them with no problems.

I am debating about putting one on the front diff.....but I would probably go with PML because MH has some rubbing issues on the front that they haven't (to my knowledge) corrected.

I have the double deep on my trans and the rear diff cover. The trans pan not only holds more fluid but als hold the trans rigid so when you are towing it does not flex thus prolonging tran component life.

The rear diff cover does lower the rear axle temp because of the increased fluid capacity but it is really nice for changing out your fliud, just pull the plug and let it drain.

This is my third truck running Mag-Hytec trans and diff covers, and as long as I tow I will have them on whatever truck I may own.

I say yes. I credit it (and Royal Purple 85-140) with over 493k miles of failure free towing, and I do tow heavy at times. Be advised it increases the capacity to 7 qts.
