Look What I Just Bought

Picked it up off a craigslist for $200. The roof needs resealed and most of the paneling on the inside needs replacing, but the majority of the framing is good and it came with all the jacks and the Troklift tie downs. Looks like I will busy for the next few months. Weight unloaded is 1800 pounds. My plan is to update the entire inside with new wall coverings, oak cabinets, and new electrical. If anyone has any advice or tips I am open to it.

Not a bad find for $200, exterior looks decent! I had an 11 foot (floor length) Amerigo slide in, I loved that thing! When I got mine someone had already done to it what you plan to do. Only downfall of putting nice cabinets/floor etc. was it was super heavy, so lightweight materials wherever you can. If you have camper package (rear sway bar and comes with 1 ton springs) you shouldn't have any problems.

Don't mind my trip down memory lane.

I'm planning on using decorative wall board paneling like what you would find in the newer models. The cabnets are in good condition so I plan on making new paneled doors and just covering the exsiting cabinets with 1/4 oak plywood and then staining and finishing too keep the weight low. The big thing is removing all the old paneling, replacing the lighting fixtures, and repainting the appliances giving it a better visual appeal.

Gorms, good trip backward. Made me remember my Amerigo. It was heavy all ready - - made my 3/4 wobble even with timbrens. Amazing how many you could sleep in that sucker with that big rear drop out bed, plus the overhead, plus the dinette. Spent many a night in that in the everglades and the forests in Florida deer and hog hunting. I agree, after rebuilding a motorhome from a fire, be sure to use lightweight materials. They get heavy in a hurry.
